SEVEN YEARS SIMPLE IMPRISONMENT TO ACCUSED RAJENDRA SADASHIV NIKALJE @ CHHOTA RAJAN AND OTHER THREE THEN OFFICIALS OF REGIONAL PASSPORT OFFICE IN A CBI CASE

The Special judge, CBI Cases, Patiala House Courts, New Delhi has today sentenced Shri Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje @ Chhota Rajan to undergo seven years Simple Imprisonment with fine of Rs.15,000/- and other three then officials of Regional Passport Office (RPO), Bangalore, namely Ms.Jayashree Rahate; Sh.Deepak Natvarlal & Ms.Lalitha Laxamanan, all to undergo seven years Simple Imprisonment with a fine of Rs.15,000/- each in a CBI Case.
CBI registered a case on 31.10.2015 against Shri Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje @ Chhota Rajan and unknown public servants U/s120-B, 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 & 474 of IPC, Section 12 of Passports Act, 1967 and 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) PC Act 1988.
CBI had arrested Shri Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje @ Chhota Rajan on 6.11.2015 after his deportation from Indonesia and he was remained in police custody till 19.11.2015. Presently, he is in judicial custody at Tihar Jail, New Delhi.
It was established during investigation that accused Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje @ Chhota Rajan dishonestly & fraudulently in criminal conspiracy with Jayashree Rahate, Deepak Natvarlal Shah & Lalitha Laxamanan, all then officials of Regional Passport Office, Bangalore got allegedly issued Indian Passport on 01.01.1998 in the name of Mohan Kumar, a non-existent person. Shri Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje @ Chhota Rajan, on the basis of said Passport, fraudulently got issued another passport dated 19.12.2003 from High commission of India at Harare, Zimbabwe and other passport from Consulate General of India, Sydney (Australia). Chhota Rajan had stayed in Zimbabwe and Australia in the fake identity of Mohan Kumar on the strength of said passport (fraudulently issued from RPO Bangalore).
After thorough investigation, CBI filed charge sheet against Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje @ Chhota Rajan and three others namely Ms.Jayashree Rahate, Shri Deepak Natvarlal Shah & Ms.Lalitha Laxamanan, all then officials of Regional Passport office, Bangalore (presently all retired) before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Patiala House Courts, New Delhi on 2.02.2016.
After trial, the Designated Court, Delhi has convicted Shri Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje @ Chhota Rajan for the offences as defined U/s 120-B, 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 & 474 of IPC, Section 12 of Passports Act, 1967 & 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act 1988 and other then officials of Regional Passport Office (RPO), Bangalore, namely Ms.Jayashree Rahate, Shri Deepak Natvarlal Shah and Ms.Lalitha Laxamanan U/s 120B of IPC, Section 12 of Passports Act, 1967 & 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act 1988.
