         The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Superintendent of Central Excise, Faridabad for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000/- from the complainant.

         A case was registered U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 against Superintendent, Central Excise, Faridabad on a complaint. The complainant (Proprietor of a Faridabad based firm) alleged that five persons visited his office and introduced themselves as Central Excise officials & checked the papers of his company. Subsequently, they threatened the complainant that his company will be sealed and demanded a bribe of Rs.5 lakh. It was further alleged that the said bribe amount was subsequently reduced to Rs.2.5 lakh and Rs.2 lakh were handed over to the Superintendent on the same day. For the remaining Rs.50,000/-, the complainant sought more time from the said accused and he was told to pay on 10.10.2016. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed. Searches are being conducted at the residence & office premises of the accused. Role of the other accused is also being looked into.

         The arrested accused will be produced in the Competent Court.

         The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Upper Divisional Clerk working in ‘Q’ Office, Garhwal Regimental Centre, Lansdowne, District Pauri Garhwal (Uttarakhand) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 4 lakh from the complainant.

             A case was registered U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 against the said Clerk on a complaint. The complainant (an employee of Garhwal Regimental Centre) has alleged that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs.8 lakh (in two instalments of Rs.4 lakh each) from him in lieu of processing his pension claim. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused. Searches were conducted at the premises of accused which led to recovery of Rs 55 lakh (approx) in cash and documents related to various investments & properties.

            The arrested accused will be produced today in the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Dehradun.
