CBI Arrests Superintendent of Central Excise in an Alleged Bribery of Rs. 10 lakh [CBI Press Release, New Delhi, 08.03.2017]
The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Superintendent of Central Excise, Anti-Evasion, Hyderabad-II Commissionerate, Kendriya Shulk Bhavan, Basheerbagh, Hyderabad and a private person (representative of a private firm) in an alleged bribery of Rs.four lakh.
CBI has registered a case U/s 7, 12, and Section 13(2) r/w 13(1) (c) & (d) of PC Act 1988, against a Superintendent of Central Excise, Anti-Evasion, Hyderabad-II Commissionerate, Kendriya Shulk Bhavan, Basheerbagh, Hyderabad and unknown others on the allegations of demanding an illegal gratification of Rs.10 lakh for showing undue official favour after conducting inspection at a private firm based at Katedan, Hyderabad and to cover up the irregularities found during the visit of the factory premises by the Anti Evasion Team. It was further alleged that out of the total demand amount of Rs.10 lakh from the representative of said firm for showing undue favours, the first installment of Rs.Six lakh was delivered in the morning of 07.03.2017 and the 2nd installment of Rs.Four lakh was to be delivered in the afternoon to the accused. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while accepting this 2nd installment of alleged bribe of Rs.Four lakh. The representative (the bribe giver) of said firm was also arrested.
Searches were conducted at the official & residential premises of the accused which led to recovery of Rs.5.6 lakh (approx.) along with several other incriminating documents.
Both the arrested accused are being produced today before the Special Judge for CBI cases, Hyderabad.
